Heating Up Mafia Town is Act 6 of the first Chapter - Mafia Town. Hat Kid must turn off all 6 lava faucets by hitting the lever with her umbrella, and use the cannon to reach the top to collect the Timepiece.
Summary
When Hat Kid starts the mission, she will immediately talk to the Goofy Mafia member where he claims that he saw a little girl, presumably Mustache Girl turn on all the faucets, pouring lava all over Mafia Town. In order for Hat Kid to complete the act, she needs to turn off all faucets.
After she turns off all faucets, she will need to go into the cannon that launches her to Mafia HQ, the Goofy Mafia and other cheering Mafia Goons will congratulate Hat Kid in her success, and then will give her a Time Piece.

"Heating Up Mafia Town" takes place in Mafia Town, which is a vast, open location with many items to collect, and is identical to any other acts in this chapter. A List of every available collectibles in Mafia Town can be found here.
Strategy
- With the Volcano activated, the entire town is filled with Lava, making navigating around the town is much more difficult.
- With this in mind, it'd be smart to be careful and look around before moving, as falling into lava is pretty painful, not gonna lie.
- As hinted in the titlecard, try to utilize many movement options, like ropes, balloons or parasols. Try to take advantage of the height they give, and hop different platforms to advance forward.
- Many hookpoints are still available, so if the Hookshot Badge is available, it is recommended.
- Take note of heart pons around the map, and save them for when Hat Kid is damaged.
- Don't lose focus when Hat Kid falls into lava! She'll get launched high up, take this opportunity to land safely on a platform.

Diary Entry
After each mission, Hat Kid will express her thoughts into her diary, which can be found inside her pillow fort.
"It’s… so.. HOT! Something seriously wrong has happened to the island; it looks like a huge Volcano went off!
"The Mafia guys are too big and tough to admit it, but the heat is definitely getting to them. Mafia guys get way smelly when they sweat… well, way smellier."

Trivia
- Due to the lava found all across Mafia Town, the act can be completed without jumping through the use of damage boosts.
- In the Prototype and Alpha stages of development, this Act was named "Mafia on Fire".
- The Act initially began with the cut character Thor informing Hat Kid about the situation, before the Goofy Mafia was created. Said situation revolved around the Mafia no longer being able to throw "stuff" into the water which cooled down the mountain, Thor believes that may have caused the lava, but this is not confirmed nor denied. The gameplay of the original act relies on the Pogo ability, which allowed Hat Kid to perform a ground-pound. Using the pogo, she would seal several lava geysers, a precursor to the faucets in the final act.
- This version persisted until late 2015.
- Upon completing the act, the Timepiece would spawn on the platform which the act begins on, rather than the Mafia HQ platform like in the final.
- This difference persisted late into development, long past the initial version of the act, being present in the 1.0 version of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 1 versions of the game.
